South Sea Pearls typically have a lower
lustre than Akoya pearls. This is due to the warmer
waters, because the rate of secretion of nacre is much
faster in South Sea pearls. High, medium and low are typically used. The sharpness or fuzzy appearance of the light reflection as noticed in the window/box will determine the level of lustre.
